Carrie Mae WeemsViewpoints

At Washington University’s Henry Art Gallery, Carrie Mae Weems’s triptych was featured in the gallery’s Viewpoints series, which pairs works from the collection with commentary from university faculty. The 2017 exhibition included responses from professors of political science, gender studies, and art history, including Stuart Lingo, who wrote about the distinctive structure of the triptych, a format common in religious paintings from the European Renaissance.
