Robin Pogrebin writes in The New York Times about Carrie Mae Weems’s exhibition The Shape of Things at New York’s Park Avenue Armory, calling Weems an artist who “has always been ahead of her time.” The large-scale exhibition reflects ideas about injustice and redemption that Weems has often addressed in her long career. Pogrebin describes the show and the convening of scholars and artists that accompanies it as a fitting response to “the reckoning around race now underway at museums in the wake of George Floyd’s killing.”
