Curator Sarah Meister talks with Katy Grannan about her portrait series Boulevard, as part of MoMA’s Seeing Through Photographs online course. Grannan discusses her approach to working with her subjects, and what she sees in them. Describing her work as an opportunity for unexpected intimacy and recognition, she notes that it sometimes asks viewers to confront uncomfortable truths.
