In a video from Arts in Context, a documentary series produced by Austin PBS, three art historians discuss Ralph Eugene Meatyard’s work in connection with the 2015 exhibition Wildly Strange: The Photographs of Ralph Eugene Meatyard from the Blanton Museum of Art and the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin. Jessica McDonald, Simone Wicha, and Dr. Coleman Hutchison talk about Meatyard’s life and his interest in literature, including his project photographing poets and working to evoke the emotions of their writing in his photographs.
