Richard T. WalkerNEVER HERE / ALWAYS THERE

On the occasion of the exhibition NEVER HERE / ALWAYS THERE, Richard T. Walker discusses key works in the show, and his changing thinking about our relationship with nature and the sublime. The artist talks about his multimedia work in the form of a thought as it defers to its past future self, which combines photographs and bronzed tree branches, and the video anywhere, somewhere (multiple), which pictures a drum set on a rocky beach. Walker also discusses what we were (as we are), made in California during the intense 2020 fire season, a work that reflects a shared anxiety about the climate crisis.
