During the past several years, Richard Misrach has been creating a series of large-scale negative prints, as both an homage to the end of the analog negative, and as an exploration of the indexical nature and color of the medium. As a sub-group of this body of work based on landscapes and seascapes, the photographer has worked with, mostly dead, desert vegetation such as tumbleweeds and scrub-brush. Early on, he began using iPhone pictures as studies for the large works, but he came to appreciate the intimate scale and unusual beauty of the small prints in their own right. iPhone Studies: Reverse Scrubs is limited to 500 numbered copies, and includes an original signed photograph by Richard Misrach. –the publisher
