In a video from SFMOMA, Liz Deschenes describes her intensive process for creating large-scale photograms, working outdoors at night in Vermont. “The temperature outside contributes to the work. The ambient light from the buildings, from the sky, the moonlight, the starlight, the bouncing light from the buildings,” all influence the look of the work, says Deschenes, as does her handing of the materials.
