Hiroshi Sugimoto: Architecture
Architecture has long been a part of Hiroshi Sugimoto’s multidisciplinary practice. He designed the Enoura Observatory (home of the Odawara Arts Foundation), which opened in 2017, and a commission to redesign the Sculpture Garden at the Hirshhorn Museum is currently underway. Iconic buildings have also been a focus of his photographic work. In this series, the artist investigates the essence of 20th century modernism. By setting his camera to twice infinity, each photograph results in a blurred silhouette of the building being imaged.
