This special limited edition of four unbound broadsides was issued to mark the 2009 publication of the revised and expanded version of Summer Nights, Walking, copublished by Aperture and Yale University Art Gallery. The custom navy blue trifold folio with a tipped-in letterpress label presents four photographs by Robert Adams with glassine interleaving and letterpress text by Zbigniew Herbert, William Blake, A. R. Ammons, and Emily Dickinson. The tritone plates were created by Thomas Palmer and printed on heavy matt paper using slightly more open and larger plates than those used on Summer Nights, Walking. The text was printed by double impression letterpress by Michael and Winifred Bixler, using lead type, which gives the letters a crispness and depth of impression that can’t be matched by synthetic polymer plates.
